Learning

This site has been a big learning process for me, and its been one of the biggest things I’ve been spending my time on, besides back to the future. I forgot to mention in my last post that we got issued a SSL certificate! Yay. I really want this site to be the best it can be, and to act as a hub for my work. At the same time, I want to be able to monetize myself while still keeping everything free, two things that generally don’t go well together. Adding to this, is my own quality standards.

I don’t want to resort to scum-bag levels of monetization, like adfly or article-text-links. I mention adfly specifically because I had used them a number of years ago to monetize my Planet Minecraft downloads, but got very poor returns (not even $1), and some ads look like the download, confusing users. I’m also not eligible for most mass forms of advertising, like Adsense, due to the fact that my site doesn’t have a massive amount of content or traffic.

As you can imagine this has all been a big headache to me. After a good deal of searching options, I’ve decided to try out amazon’s ads solutions for the time being, and see how that goes. I’m happy with how they appear on PC, but mobile for some reason places sidebar widgets at the bottom of the page, hence making the ads useless, as well as stacking two in a row. So there is more work to be done.
